See You in 2018.

Sometimes I find myself thinking about how lucky I am, to be able to fill my life with things that make me happy, to have problems that I am able to overcome, to know people that make me a better person.

2017 was a great year for me. I could make a list of all the traveling I did or the photographs I took, cafes I went to or meals I cooked (Me! Cooking! Unheard of barely 15 months ago!) – but it was really the sentiment behind everything I did, the fervor with which I did those things, that appetite for life, for wanting to be happy, to make others happy. What a comeback from the dreadful 2016.

I’m writing this down so I can come back next year and the years after that to remind myself that even the worst has to pass to make way for better.

Happy new year!

I shot the last three frames on my roll of Ektar just as we reached Hehuan Mountain (合歡山) after an eighty-minute drive from where we were staying and loaded a roll of expired Kodak Gold 100, which is vastly different from (and some would say inferior to) Ektar but so, so perfect for the rolling greens.
