The Weekend List / 17.

I don’t listen to a lot of music these days and when I do I go back to my old favorites from years ago. In fact, it is probably not too far off to say that the soundtracks from all four seasons of The O.C. pretty much make up the entirety of my music cache. Today I want to share with you a list of song lyrics that went into my diaries, they’re my favorite kind of poetry:

– All the waves of blame arrange as broken scenery, as they steal your best memories away.
– How can I fight, when we’re on the same side, how can I fight beside you.
– I’m building memories on things we have not said, full is not heavy as empty, not nearly my love.
– Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.
If I cried a little bit, when I first learned the truth, don’t blame it on my heart, blame it on my youth.
– And if you care, don’t let them know, don’t give yourself away.
– All secrets sleep in winter clothes.
– Somewhere our things share the same windowsill, somewhere our hearts exist independent of time, somewhere we are whole.
– But the night came down and swept us away, and the stars they seemed to paint the most elaborate scene to date.
– There’s a thousand shades of white and a thousand shades of black, but the same rule always applies, smile pretty and watch your back.
– Everything’s falling, and I am included in that.
– And you’ll yield to me like a scent in the breeze, and you’ll wonder what it is about me.
– Yes, it struck me that love is sport, so I pushed you a little bit more.
– So sit on top of the world and tell me how you’re feeling, what you feel is what I feel for you.
– Sing me something soft, sad and delicate, or loud and out of key, sing me anything.

I listened to all these songs while putting this post together and they just broke my heart, especially the one I linked up above. Please, share with me the song lyrics that went into your heart and never left.

P.S. That is a photograph of me taken by my partner on a roll of black and white film gifted by Anna; I’ve always wanted a picture of myself on black and white. :)

  1. Ohh… this is a list I like.

My mood is at the moment set for American Folk/Country, so I’ll share some of my favourite lyrics from some of my favourite songs from that gener.

So I felt like nothing when I got back home, And my father saw me in my granddad’s clothes, And said, “you inherit my blood, boy, But your sins are all your own”
    Kasey Anderson – I Was A Photograph
(I think this song get’s to me so much more, knowing it’s background story.)

Building bridges ain’t the hardest part, it’s trying to swim once the fall apart.
Israel Nash Gripka – Fool’s Gold

If there’s one thing I can’t take, It’s the sound that a woman makes, About five seconds after her heart begins to break
    Jason Isbell – Codeine

      1. You are welcome :)

A lot of them are quite sad. Isbell himself labeled Codeine as a happy song when I saw him preform a few months ago (I guess he was speaking in relative terms…)

If Spotify has arrived in Taiwan and you are interested, I’d be more than happy to share my american folk playlist (WIP).

  2. when you meet you will have all sorts of pictures of yourself, b&w and color…
my,oh my – i guess there is this certain point in your life where music you listen sticks as an emotional landscape,a home and even if you get farther or get around knowing a lot of new songs and artists, you always return ‘home’ :)
I could fill this comment with 800000 lyrics ahahah, some of my favorite one i already posted on my blog but here’s a sample:

    – ”I won’t run far, I can always be found \ If you need me, I can always be found \ If you want me to stay, I will stay by your side \If you need me, I can always be found \ I won’t run far’

    – ‘And I held it in my hands to protect it from the wind/But the more I held on, I knew I’d lose it again /You blew in like a breeze and rolled out like a storm/ I know you didn’t think it’d do any harm /I knew exactly, I knew exactly what this would feel like /To hear the same voice that said ‘hello’ say ‘goodbye’

    – I’m crawling, I don’t know where to or from The center of things from where everything stems, is not where I belong/ I have the city sickness growing inside me So this is where I ran for freedom where I may not be free

    – ‘This city’s no longer mine/ There’s sadness written on every corner/Each lover was made to sign/
Now I hear them calling me over and over

Hope you will have a great great weekend :)

    1. I’m looking forward to one day standing opposite you and your camera ♥

I don’t know how you describe things with just the perfect words, Sara, emotional landscape indeed.. it was a time and space when I was open to all kinds of emotions that comes with friendship and love. The music helped me indulge in those emotions.

I love everything you shared, even without the tunes they are already perfect songs in my eyes. :)
