The Weekend List / 14.

I stumbled upon a list of Taipei’s list of sister cities (unfortunately, I’ve only been to two – San Francisco and Los Angeles) and thought it’d be fun to make a list of which ones I really hope to visit one day:

– Seoul, South Korea
– Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
– Johannesburg, South Africa
– Versailles, France
– Warsaw, Poland
– Boston, Massachusetts, USA
– Ulan Bator, Mongolia

A list of your city’s sister cities (or twin towns) can be easily found on Wikipedia – which sister cities of yours would you like to visit?

  1. My town has exactly one sister city: Zomba, Malawi.

Given that I live in the middle of nowhere in the midwestern United States, Zomba sounds like a place I would like to visit.

    1. I always wonder what it’s like to live in the middle of nowhere in the United States! And I agree, Zomba sounds very welcoming and like a great party :D

  2. Daejeon, South Korea
    Nanjing, China

Are the ones that I’m interested enough to visit to make an actual attempt :) Nanjing is actually among those cities I intend to visit when/if I go back to China.

On a side note, there does not seem to be a lot of sisterly love between Taiwan and Sweden :/

      1. Sending the same weekend love to you, Sara. P.S. I checked Porto’s sister cities and think you should go to Japan too hahahaha :)

  3. You know what I’ve just found out, Katie?

“The city of Helsinki does not officially recognize sister cities, but lists a special partnership relation with:
    Beijing, China
    Moscow, Russia
    Copenhagen, Denmark
    Taipei, Taiwan”

    I suppose I will have to say Taipei then, won’t I? :-)

  4. I’m from Boston so Taipei is one of the sister cities. :) Others include:

    Belfast, Ireland
    Melbourne, Australia
    Hangzhou, China
    Strasbourg, France
    Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana
    Padua, Italy
    Kyoto, Japan
    Barcelona, Spain
    Taipei, Taiwan

I’ve only been to Kyoto. Hoping to visit Taipei soon!

Do come to Boston if you get a chance. :)
