Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center / 駁二藝術特區.

The Pier-2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區), for some strange reason, never came up in our research on places to visit in Kaohsiung. Inadvertently, it has become the place that I insist anyone who visits the port city to go to. The Pier-2 Warehouse (9th picture from the bottom) is the main building in the art district; the old sugar warehouse is now used to house contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year.

There are many things to love about this place: the gentle cross between the old and modern, the miles and miles of walking path, the beautiful sunset across abandoned waters – which deserves another post on its own altogether.

i really like these, esp the landscape ones – partly because I don’t do landscapes so well!

What a cool area! So much distraction; I would use up an entire roll (or two) of film there. I think my favorite sculptures have to be the muscle arm guys. I like the shape of them, and how many there are. I think you’re reccommending a good place!

I took SO MANY pictures of this place it’s insane! It’s huge and exciting and there was just so much air I think anyone would feel really good walking around the place.

How did I miss this?! I guess the obvious answer is that it wasn’t in the book…

I love the shot with the old lady and the mural. It seems to tell a story :)

Weird, right? I’ve never even heard of this place and there we have a gem in the city that no one knows about. That’s the mural on the building of the Labor Museum, we were there to late to make it inside but I’ll be looking forward to going the next time. :)

I would love to know what you think.
