Recently I’ve had a few advance/rewind issues with my cameras – which makes perfect sense, since they are either toys or vintage – that I know no way of eliminating. Most times it’s the case of my film deciding not to advance for no reason and usually I simply rewind the film a little, taking new pictures over old ones. They turn into happy accidents of frame shifts and double exposures, which can sometimes give a regular picture a bigger story, I think.

  1. Oh, sometimes I have this problem but rather than wind it back I just press the rewind film button on the camera so that it resets the mechanism, it messes with the numbers on the advance wheel but it can stop the overlapping from happening sometimes.

Saying that I love film accidents so perhaps keep doing it :)

    1. Ah.. it never occurred to me to try that – thanks Rhianne! I do enjoy the accidents, too, unless they happen right after a picture I really want to keep, so thanks for the tip! :)

  2. I think these are happy accidents! Good thing Rhianne had a suggestion to fix it. The images here are somewhat ghostlike, though. And you can’t hate them for that. :)
