This is one of the best stories we like to tell: we had a group of guests from Thailand back in early July and one of the guys, Job, told us there was somewhere he wanted to go on their last day and needed some information on how to make his way there. Turns out that he wanted to visit an uncle he met on his previous trip to Taiwan who was kind enough to personally take him and his friend to Yehliu and other scenic spots even though they were only asking for directions.

After Job and his friend returned to Thailand, they kept in contact with the uncle and his family via snail mail, sending one another packages of souvenirs from their respective countries. It was such a lovely thing to be a part of, so we volunteered to take them to the address – a Taiwanese breakfast shop run by the uncle and his family. Although they don’t speak a common language (we had to do quite a bit of translation), it was still really wonderful to see that kindness can go such a long way.
