More of Good Cho’s / 好, 丘.

I must admit I was really surprised by how the pictures turned out on this roll of expired Ferrania Solaris 200 (which I won in the awesome giveaway hosted by Michelle back in April); before this I would never describe the Solaris films as wholesome but I adore the warm but slightly muted contrast in these. It’s been some time since I used my favorite Solaris films while I experimented with other brands but this roll has gotten me really excited to get back into them again.

  1. Can we be BFFs and you can teach me all there is to know about film?! Okay, good!
I’ve got some expired Solaris I got from a trip to the zoo, it was dirt cheap so I felt like I had to get it.. still have yet to use it, though!

    1. Hello BFF! :)

Unfortunately, I don’t know everything there is to know about about film but I can tell you whatever I know about it! Solaris is quite well know for producing muted, pastel hues (very Japanese) so it’s actually quite the perfect film to use under bright daylight for a nice, non-saturated tone.

However, you mentioned yours is expired so we don’t know for sure what kind of color shifts there may be. My roll catches a lot of yellow, as you can tell. I can’t wait to see your pictures! :)

P.S. Check out the photos taken on expired film in the Solaris Flickr stream:

  2. oh my word, the photographs turned out really well. one of the films that i need to stock up is solaris 200, i have quite little of that compared to the 100, 400 and 800s. :)
